Session 1 - Intro to Daily Breathwork: The “Building Blocks” of Breathwork & Foundational Practices

This workshop series is designed to empower & inspire a daily at-home breathwork practice for energy, stress relief, digestion, and deep sleep. Appropriate for all levels, it offers techniques and knowledge to refine an existing asana or meditation practice, or to ignite a new daily habit for first-time yoga breathers.
This breathwork approach integrates the wisdom of ancient yoga breathing practices with modern scientific understanding of breathing & the nervous system.
At the end of SESSION 1, students will be able to:
Explain the five basic “building blocks” that make up various yoga breathing techniques and apply them for desired results– from energy to deep relaxation.
Apply three “Breath Testing” tests to objectively measure progress of your breathwork and nervous system toning over time.
Explain the neuro-biology of Ujjayi (Ocean’s Breath) and Kapalabhati (Breath of Fire), including how each affects the nervous system
Practice and categorize three foundational breathwork practices-- for energy, balance, and relaxation– including why, when & how to practice them at home in 4 min or less
Understand the neuroscience of building a new daily habit and how consistent practice rewires your brain
Kindly note: This is the first class of a 4-part workshop series. Scientific knowledge & breathwork techniques are intentionally scaffolded to optimize learning and enhance the effectiveness of at-home practice between sessions.
While the content of this session is practical & informative, it is strongly encouraged to join all 4 sessions for the most valuable learning experience and transformational physical & mental results.

Teacher: Christine Conforti, Certified YogaBody Breath Coach
Christine is enamored with the intersection between science and spirituality, and inspired by the innate healing power and wisdom of the body. As a Holistic Business Coach since 2014, she has helped hundreds of people identify their deepest truth, explore their most brilliant ideas and expand their capacity to power their lives and work with gratitude, curiosity and courage. On a healing sabbatical in Mexico in early 2022, she was exposed to the paradigm-shifting teachings of Polyvagal Theory and the world of somatic therapy through hands-on bodywork, breathwork and movement practices. Since then, she’s deepened her ability to hold safe and healing space by integrating breathwork and nervous system teachings into her practice.
Christine has been a consistent student of yoga since 2015, and MindUP Workshop Facilitator teaching the neuroscience of mindfulness since 2012. She holds a Masters in Education, and finds joying in simplifying complex information & techniques into practices accessible and actionable for any and all human beings. In addition to teaching breathwork in groups, Christine coaches private clients and is a Craniosacral Practitioner under the certification training of the Upledger Institute.
